Why grow your own food?

Growing your own food offers numerous advantages. These include mitigating the impact of rising food costs and a volatile supply chain. By gardening, you gain control over the quality, cleanliness, and purity of your food, which is increasingly important given the decline in available food quality. Furthermore, it provides significant health benefits through fresh air, sun exposure, and the therapeutic experience of working the soil and connecting with your natural environment.

How?

Regardless of your living situation, you have options for growing at least some of your own food.

Homestead/Farm: If possible, purchase enough land to establish your own farm or homestead.

Suburban Micro-Farm: Transform your existing property into a small-scale suburban farm by redesigning the landscape. Here is an example of an in-town lot that is ⅕ of an acre. Using raised beds and a simple greenhouse, you can grow an abundance of food.

Indoor Growing (Confined Space/Renting): Even in a small or rented space, you can grow micro-greens indoors. All you need are a stand, trays, potting soil, seeds, and access to a sunny window.

“Just eat real food and lots of it” - Joan Gussow, nutritionist, educator, writer, gardner

Our position at IntempoHealth is elegantly simple: "Just Eat Real Food." This philosophy serves as the foundational principle for all dietary recommendations and nutritional guidelines provided to our community. It moves beyond restrictive dieting or calorie counting, focusing instead on the quality, purity, and origin of the ingredients consumed. This philosophy advocates for a return to traditional, whole foods—those that are unprocessed, unrefined, and in their most natural state. This means prioritizing fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and humanely raised animal products, while systematically eliminating highly processed foods, artificial additives, synthetic sweeteners, and trans fats from the diet.

A critical component of this "Real Food" mandate is the stringent requirement for finding locally sourced foods raised with no chemicals or harmful substances. IntempoHealth strongly encourages community members to engage directly with local farmers and producers who employ sustainable, organic, and regenerative agricultural practices. This ensures that the food consumed—whether it be produce, dairy, or meat—is free from pesticides, herbicides, synthetic fertilizers, and growth hormones. By focusing on local, clean sourcing, we not only maximize the nutritional value and flavor of the ingredients but also support environmental stewardship and build a resilient, transparent local food ecosystem, aligning consumption with overall health and ecological responsibility.

At Intempo Health, we define cardio as any form of natural means to elevate the heart rate and respiration rate of the human body for a determined duration of time.

Why Cardio?

Benefits of Cardio

  • Improved Cardiovascular Health: Strengthens the heart and lungs, making them more efficient at delivering oxygen throughout the body. It also participates the removal of metabolic waste (i.e. carbon dioxide, lactic acid, etc)

  • Weight Management: Burns calories, which helps in maintaining a healthy weight or achieving weight loss goals.

  • Enhanced Mood: Stimulates the production of endorphins, acting as natural mood elevators and stress reducers.

  • Better Sleep: Contributes to more restorative and higher-quality sleep patterns.

  • Increased Energy Levels: Boosts stamina and reduces fatigue over time.

  • Reduced Risk of Chronic Diseases: Lowers the likelihood of developing conditions like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and certain types of cancer.

  • Stronger Immune System: Enhances the body's ability to fight off viral and bacterial infections.

  • Improved Bone Density: Weight-bearing cardio exercises (like running or walking) help strengthen bones.

Who should do cardio?

As long as you have breath in your lungs and blood in your veins, you can benefit from cardio.
