“Just eat real food and lots of it” - Joan Gussow, nutritionist, educator, writer, gardner
Our position at IntempoHealth is elegantly simple: "Just Eat Real Food." This philosophy serves as the foundational principle for all dietary recommendations and nutritional guidelines provided to our community. It moves beyond restrictive dieting or calorie counting, focusing instead on the quality, purity, and origin of the ingredients consumed. This philosophy advocates for a return to traditional, whole foods—those that are unprocessed, unrefined, and in their most natural state. This means prioritizing fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and humanely raised animal products, while systematically eliminating highly processed foods, artificial additives, synthetic sweeteners, and trans fats from the diet.
A critical component of this "Real Food" mandate is the stringent requirement for finding locally sourced foods raised with no chemicals or harmful substances. IntempoHealth strongly encourages community members to engage directly with local farmers and producers who employ sustainable, organic, and regenerative agricultural practices. This ensures that the food consumed—whether it be produce, dairy, or meat—is free from pesticides, herbicides, synthetic fertilizers, and growth hormones. By focusing on local, clean sourcing, we not only maximize the nutritional value and flavor of the ingredients but also support environmental stewardship and build a resilient, transparent local food ecosystem, aligning consumption with overall health and ecological responsibility.
